ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
To begin, engaging in psychotherapy is completely voluntary. Psychotherapy is talk-based therapy intended to help individuals navigate emotions, cognitive and behavioural aspects of their well being. Clients and therapist agree to engage in this interpersonal process and build a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship. The therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of a positive therapy experience.
My professional designations are; Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Certified Anger Management Specialist - Level 2. I am currently practicing under clinical supervision and registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)-registration number 12174. I am also a member of the National Anger Management Association (NAMA).
A Psychotherapist can only provide psychotherapy/counselling support. You do not need a referral from your doctor to see a Psychotherapist.
A Psychologist can provide psychotherapy/counselling support as well as give you a formal diagnosis. You most likely would require a referral from your doctor to see a Psychologist.
A Psychiatrist can provide psychotherapy/counselling, give you a formal diagnosis and can prescribe you medication to manage your mental health concerns if they feel it will help. You most likely would require a referral from your doctor to see a Psychiatrist.
Session rates are as follows;
$130 - 60 minute Individual Psychotherapy (video & in-person)
$170 - 60 minute Couples Therapy (video & in-person)
$130 - 60 minute Individual Anger Management (video & in-person)
Reach out as I am open to discussing the possibility of a rate reduction for psychotherapy services.
If you are inquiring about Anger Management Therapy as a justice involved client please reach out about the possibility of a rate reduction.
Finding the right therapist can take a bit of searching. You might speak to several therapists before deciding on who you would like to work with. To see if we are a good fit I recommend booking a FREE 15 minute discovery call.
When it comes to therapy how often you attend is entirely up to you. Some clients feel comfortable with weekly sessions while others choose to do a session every two weeks. Having a bit of space between sessions can be helpful because it allows you to process what we have talked about and try out coping techniques discussed in the session.
In the case of Anger Management, the frequency may depend on whether you have been court mandated to do anger management and how often the mandate stipulates you attend sessions. If there is no such stipulation Anger Management therapy is 12 weeks with a one hour session each week.
At the present time, psychotherapy services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). However, sessions may be covered completely or partially through your extended benefits provider (ex: Manulife, Greenshield, Sunlife). I recommend you connect with your extended benefits provider to find out about your service coverage and the process of submitting a claim/receipt to obtain reimbursement as I do not offer direct billing.
Payments are collected at the end of each session and currently are payable by e-transfer to admin@gaurimcounselling.com. Once payment has been received you will receive a payment receipt.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session please provide 24 hours notice. You can either use the meeting link to cancel the session or email me at admin@gaurimcounselling.com. Any cancellation that is less than 24 hours notice will result in a full session fee charge. If you are running late for a session send me an email to let me know.
